There's no rivalry quite like the India - Pakistan rivalry in the sport of Cricket, Now, I don't know if this recent contest was one for the ages but it definitely had enough swings in its momentum for it to be remembered for a long time. This blog post however is not about the rivalry, it's about three pertinent questions which have been bothering me ever since the match concluded. I will put forth my questions below but do help me out with your answers:
- Who scored the best '13' in the match? There were four scores of '13' in the match. One by India's Rohit Sharma and three by Babar Azam, Usman Khan and Fakhar Zaman from Pakistan. Each of the players have a valid claim for the title but who do you think nicked it?
- Rohit Sharma scored '13' when the pitch was probably the most difficult to bat on
- Babar scored '13' and got his side off to a decent start in a low scoring game
- Usman took the most number of deliveries to score '13' but his partnership of '31' with Rizwan (highest stand of the Pakistan innings) steadied the chase
- Fakhar took the least number of deliveries to get to 13 but was out just when he looked like taking the game away from India
- Which of these batters literally threw away his wickets?
- Axar Patel who danced down the wicket and was castled by Naseem Shah after a well made '20'
- Mohammad Rizwan who dragged himself to '31' and then played a cross-bat shot against a full length Jasprit Bumrah delivery when all he had to do was see out that over
- Fakhar Zaman's ill-timed pull when the match was very much in Pakistan's grip (turning point of the match according to me)
- Iftikhar's inability to deal with a Bumrah full toss in the all-important penultimate over
- Who was the worst player of the match?
- Shivam Dube who crawled to 3(9) before offering a simple caught and bowled opportunity to Naseem Shah. This innings along with the sitter he dropped off Rizwan make him a strong contender for this title
- Suryakumar Yadav who was shielded from the moving ball only to contribute practically nothing with the bat. If that wasn't enough he almost tripped Arshdeep Singh who was in prime position to take Iftikhar Ahmed's catch.
When India almost tripped (Courtesy: Kabaddi Di Duniya) - Imad Wasim who just couldn't get going and was beaten three times in a row by Axar Patel
- Iftikhar Ahmed who was the designated finisher but couldn't push his team over the line when the going got tough
Those were my questions friends. What are your thoughts? I am happy that India won yesterday's match but there are cracks in the batting armor which need to be fixed if we have to win the big one.
Until Next Time,
Your Infrequent cricket enthusiast.
PS - Is Arshdeep Singh a better all-rounder than Shivam Dubey?
This match promises to be a test of character and resilience! Analyzing the teams' strengths and weaknesses, I predict a battle of attrition with the spinners playing a crucial role. India vs Zimbabwe Will spin dominate, or will the batsmen find a way to break through?
ReplyDeleteAnalyzing the historical data and head-to-head records, I predict a closely contested India vs Zimbabwematch with a slight edge to the home team. However, cricket is a game of uncertainties, and anything can happen on match day! Let's see who emerges victorious!
