What makes today a good day?

Another day is about to pass us. Before the day passes by, I have a very important question for all of you.

Did you have a good day?

You are not sure, then why don't you ask yourself the following questions?

Did you sleep well?
Did you have a decent meal?
Did you exercise?
Did you spend time with your near and dear?
Did you dwell on the positive aspects of your life?
Did you watch something nice?
Did you take up a task?
Did you focus on something which is bothering you?
Did you do less of what you consider as a bad habit or what spoilt your day the last time around?
Did you repent or admit to follies of the past?
Did you fight a bad thought?
Did you indulge in a hobby or take part in a sport?
Did you make a plan for the future?
Did you try to help someone?
Did you dream?

If you have answered 'Yes' to any of the above questions then you definitely had a good day because a good day is made up of little things which pave the way for a constructive life. When you make little things count you forge a good day and when you string together a group of such good days you land in a good phase.

If you haven't answered 'Yes' then you must be probably doing something which is not part of the above list.

Something other than your regular work which you haven't given yourself credit for.
Something which doesn't necessarily need external approval or validation.
Something positive which makes you forget your long term worries for at least a moment and reassures you that life after all is not that bad.

Make a note of that thing(s), do more of it, add more things like it to your bucket and above all give yourself a pat on the back for shaping a good day.

In a life filled with tedium these everyday pats do ease the pressure. Try it out and let me know if you had a good day.

Zamarrud Theatre Hyderabad

More than two decades ago a 5 year old boy (yours truly) found himself in Abids which was certainly then the microcosm of Hyderabad. KBR National Park

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the fifth largest city in India - Hyderabad lies KBR (Kasu Brahmananda Reddy) National Park . It's difficult to imagine a natural habitat in the center of a concrete jungle but that's exactly what KBR park is - an oasis in middle of an urban desert . One of Hyderabad's prized tourist attractions which in my opinion doesn't get the attention it deserves. I have a soft corner in my heart for the action films of the eighties . I am also a huge fan of movies where stars are cast against type ( see Vera Cruz ). So, when I got a chance to watch 1988's Black Eagle pitting international action star Jean-Claude Van Damme as the 'villain' against acclaimed martial arts guru Sho Kosugi , I just couldn't let it pass by. In a nutshell A delightful whodunit set during the Christmas time with some compelling performances, brisk pacing and a happy ending. On the way there he runs into Anita Weatherby ( Barbara Britton ), daughter of a wealthy banker in Philips' town, Stu Weatherby ( Art Baker ). The two hit off instantly and Sam makes plans to visit the Weatherby family once he's done wrapping up the Philips case. At Bertram's Hotel - Not one of Agatha Christie's finest

In a nutshell A plodding whodunit which takes its own sweet time to set things up but doesn't quite deliver the punch at the end with its reveal. Plot Miss Marple returns to a favorite childhood spot, Bertram's hotel, to experience the nostalgia of the bygone years. The hotel's guests include Miss Marple's gregarious friend Selena Hazy, absent minded Canon Pennyfather who's making his way to a conference in Lucerne via London, hypervigilant Colonel Luscombe accompanied by his precocious ward Elvira Blake and tabloid friendly socialite Lady Bess Sedgwick who always seems to have a knack of generating headlines.
